Atlanta hosts Miami on Wednesday, October 28, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at State Farm Arena, according to the arena’s schedule.

The Hawks enter 2–2. Miami is seeking its first win after an 0–4 start, according to Field Level Media’s matchup preview carried by Reuters.

Defend before the drive gathers speed

The matchup brings Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo into Atlanta’s interior-defense discussion. Antetokounmpo recorded 29 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in Miami’s latest loss to Dallas.

For Atlanta, the proposed defensive priority is to meet penetration early enough that the center is not left choosing between an uncontested finish and abandoning another threat near the basket.

That requires coordination. The defender guarding the ball needs support, but the supporting defender also needs a clear recovery route. Sending more bodies toward the lane without accounting for the next pass can simply move the opening somewhere else.

Keep the offense connected

At the other end, Atlanta should seek possessions that involve more than one side of the floor. Reversing the ball can make help defenders relocate and give the next attacker a clearer view of the available space.

These are matchup considerations, not a prediction of the coaching staff’s assignments. Final player availability and starting lineups remain subject to official pregame updates.

The next checkpoint is the official injury update before tipoff. Once play begins, watch whether Atlanta’s first defensive rotation prevents a scoring chance or merely delays one.
